Mountain High by artistwilder Mountain High by artistwilder
acrylic, palette knife, 24in x18 in
* update* I have made changes to the rocks and opened them up. I think this works way better...I really like it now. Thanks for all comments they really helped.

Did a lot of experimenting with this one. Two different texture techniques...may have to correlate them better

Beautiful :) Fantastic contrast between the dark, detailed front rocks and trees and the delicate pastel sky :)

Hmmm... I think you are right, some kind of a continuity is needed here, otherwise the difference is too pronounced.
I'm sure you'll come up with something brilliant - you always do! :D

The stuff in the background is really well done, and I can't find anything about it that I dislike, but I'm automatically more drawn to the colors and shapes of the foreground, I can't put my finger on why exactly, but I do like them better.

I have to say that as far as texture goes, I like the foreground much more than the back. The back is good, it's just that the foreground is more atypical, and original. As far as the color goes, the black in the foreground seems really "black black", rather than blue or brownish black.

Thanks. It's really hard for me to get the colors just right when photographing. the darks always look darker and when I try to reduce the contrast I lose too much of everything else. I made some changes and I realy like it now. It was easier for me to change the rocks than the mountains.

I really like it Linda. It has such a great sense of depth... feels like you could really fall off the edge!
